antique griffin crest press back dining chairs | set of 4 folding chair A pair of vintage hand-paintedThis set of four antique nineteenth century pressback dining chairs features crest rails carved with heraldic griffins flanking a central cartouche. The expressive carving introduces a dramatic architectural element above woven cane seats and slender turned spindles. The warm wood tone and uncommon crest motif give the chairs a distinctive presence, reflecting the ornamental character favored in American furniture of the late Victorian period.
