Leoville Poyferre Vintage:1983Not one to put away and age, but there is lots to enjoy here now. It has polish, well delivered red and brambly fruits, persistency and gloss. Oak is a touch more evident than in most years because the fruit is not at full ripeness. As with many 2013s, this offers good potential for drinking over the next decade but no further. 3% Cabernet Franc makes up the rest of the blend.

Blends richness and finesse with a deft hand and finishes incredibly long and precise

Underneath all of that plush fruit is a stony core of structure and myriad spicy complexities that should sustain it for decades to come

It just needs more complexity and terroir expression on the finish

plum and cassis notes that really stick with you

The 2000 Barolo Riserva Le Rocche del Falletto is soft and quite open in feel

This is built-to-age and is going to need plenty of it
